What is "Mazel and Schlimazel?"
Mazel and Schlimazel is an all-original musical adaptation of a folkloric children's tale of Yiddish/Jewish origin. Lorie and her band of spirited Klezmer musicians provide live music to this classic tale while it is presented, full of humour, suspense and surprise, by an expert storyteller.
Mazel and Schlimazel premiered at the Ashkenaz Festival in Toronto over Labour Day weekend, 2010 to a packed house.
What's the story about?
The spirits of good luck and bad luck are at it again; only this time, the life of Tam, a young peasant lad, is on the line. In this musical adventure, join the debonair Mazel and the wicked Schlimazel as they try to take control of Tam's destiny while he tries to capture the heart of the king's daughter.
Is it appropriate for schools?
Yes-For a full list of curricular expectations met by this presentation, email loriewolf1@yahoo.com. Lorie is a music teacher certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and can provide a full unit plan, including worksheets, to teachers.
